Methods
The methods followed in the creation of the dataset, including description of field, laboratory and processing steps, and quality control procedures
Current Methods
Mean annual basal increment changes
Raw data collected (1993) by Jeffrey Hughes to study changes in mean annual basal area increment (BAI) of canopy sugar maple trees growing at and below the species' elevation limit on Five Vermont mountainsides, in 5 year intervals, from 1963 to 1992.
Past Methods (No longer in use)
- Sampling for differences in distribution
Started: 1992-06-01
Ended: 1997-01-14Evaluation of sugar maple, yellow birch, paper birch and mountain birch on several Vermont mountains to measure differences in distriubtion as it relates to elevation-related climate.
- Evaluation
Started: 1992-06-01
Ended: 1997-01-14Overstory and understory individuals evaluated.
- Composition of data
Started: 1992-06-01
Ended: 1997-01-14Data includes species, density, relative density, basal area, relative basal area, and radial growth.
