The advanced search works by combining the criteria from the categories so that ALL criteria specified must be matched. If you specify multiple criteria within the Dataset Characteristics category, only one of those dataset characteristics must match (ie Description OR Instrumentation) but all other criteria from different categories, if specified, must match too. Some criteria only apply to certain types of content and will automatically limit results (ie selecting a species will automatically limit results to datasets).

Content Type

Keywords

Search for content with name, description, purpose or objective matching keywords entered. Enter as a comma separated list with phrases surrounded by "double quotes". For example: "forest health", maple

Tags

Search for content with tags entered. Enter as a comma separated list with phrases surrounded by "double quotes" as for Keywords.

Date

Themes

Themes are only associated with projects so selecting a theme will confine results to projects.

Use Ctrl-key to select/deselect multiple items.

Taxonomy

Species are only associated with datasets so selecting a species will confine results to datasets.

Find content matching specific species

Dataset Characteristics

Search for datasets with content matching keywords entered. Enter as a comma separated list with phrases surrounded by "double quotes" as for Keywords.

Location

Defining a search area will limit results to projects and datasets that have location data defined.

The bounding box you draw will be used to search for spatial overlaps in the database. Click on the map to start drawing a rectangle around your area of interest. Double click to finish drawing.
