Methods
The methods followed in the creation of the dataset, including description of field, laboratory and processing steps, and quality control procedures
Past Methods (No longer in use)
Started: 1999-06-01
Ended: 1999-12-31On August 19, 1999, a sediment core was acquired from the deep hole in Branch Pond, in the main lake body and in the southmost of two distinct hypolimnetic holes, within the Lye Brook Wilderness Area.
Started: 1999-06-14
Ended: 1999-12-31The core was acquired from a depth of 10.1 meters and capped before breaching the surface. Details of sampling and analysis procedures are documented in Kaman et. al., 1997, Quality Assurance Project Plan, Assessment of Mercury in Hypolimnetic Lake-bed sediments of Vermont and New Hampshire.
- Data analysis
Started: 1999-06-14
Ended: 1999-12-31A REMAP Project. Vt. DEC, Waterbury. Analysis included: %C, %N, statble isotopes (C13, N15), Hg, %solids, loss on ignition (LOI), Pb210.

Gravity corer
Started: 1999-06-01
Ended: 1999-12-31The core was acquired uing a Glew-design gravity corer, equipped with a 70 cm X 6.5 cm (I.d.) Lexan core tube, which was previously acid cleaned in 10% HNO3. Lot-certified 20 ml and 125 ml PETE bottles.
