  An additional blackberry clone was sampled.

  15 additional black cherry trees were sampled

  The same trees (black cherry and white ash) and clones (blackberry) were examined for symptoms of ozone injury. 14 ash, 25 cherry and 5 blackberry clones (5 first year canes and 5 second year canes for each clone) were evaluated using a 5 class rating system: 0, 1=trace (1-5%), 2=light(6-25%), 3=moderate(26-50%), 4=heavy(>50%). Branch samples are taken using a tree climber.

  Only 2 ash and 18 cherry trees were sampled. Pole pruners were used to sample, lower foliage only was obtainable.

• Injury rating

  An eight class injury rating system was done in addition to the original 5 class system. This is the Horsfall-Barrett system: 0,1=1-3%, 2=4-6%, 3=7-12%, 4=13-25%, 5=26-50%, 6=51-75%, 7=>75%.
