The methods followed in the creation of the dataset, including description of field, laboratory and processing steps, and quality control procedures
Current Methods
- Mohonk Meteorological Data- This dataset is part of the Mohonk Preserve Environmental Monitoring Program, a long-term research program designed to monitor climate change, air, precipitation and streamwater chemistry, solar radiation, stream flow and temperature, soil moisture and soil temperature. - Datalogger- Campbell Scientific, Model CR6-NA-ST-SW. - Dataset Fields- Detailed documentation of the fields comprising the dataset, including the type of measurement, units where applicable, and any controlled vocabularies or code lists present in the data 
 - No documentation available for these fields - Sampling Equipment- Equipment and software used to collect data, including how that equipment was used. - Current Equipment- Air temperature- Rotronic, Model HC2S3-10-PT. Rotronic HygroClip2 Temperature/RH Probe. Temp: ±0.1°C with standard configuration settings (at 23°C). Humidity: ±0.8% RH with standard configuration settings (at 23°C) 
- Global short wave radiation- Apogee, Model SP230-L12-PT. All-season heated pyranometer. Accuracy ±5% for daily total radiation 
- Global short wave radiation accessory- Campbell Scientific, Model 18356. Leveling base for pyranometer. 
- Global short wave radiation accessory- Campbell Scientific, Model CM225. Mounting stand for pyranometer. 
- Precipitation accessory- Novalynx, Model 260-953. Alter-type rain gauge wind screen, 36" legs 
- Precipitation gauge- RM Young, Model 52202-L17-LP13. Heated rain and snow gauge, 0.1mm resolution. Accuracy 2% up to 25 mm h-1 (1 in. h-1) 3% up to 50 mm h-1 (2 in. h-1) 
- Relative humidity- Rotronic, Model HC2S3-10-PT. Rotronic HygroClip2 Temperature/RH Probe. Temp: ±0.1°C with standard configuration settings (at 23°C). Humidity: ±0.8% RH with standard configuration settings (at 23°C) 
- Shield for temperature/relative humidity sensor- RM Young, Model 41003-5. 10-plate radiation shield 
- Soil moisture & electrical conductivity- Campbell Scientific, Model CS655-17-PT-DS. Soil water content reflectometer (also measures conductivity and temperaure). Readings represent an average of conditions along 12 cm length of rods. Volumtric water content: range 5% to 50%, accuracy ±3% VWC (typical in mineral soils that have solution electrical conductivity ≤ 10 dS/m), precision < 0.05%. Temperature: range -10° to +70°C, acc ±0.5°C, prec ±0.02°C. Conductivity: range for Bulk EC 0 to 8 dS/m, acc ±(5% of reading + 0.05 dS/m), prec 0.5% of BEC.

 - Site Characteristics- The spatial extent of the dataset site coverage, and descriptions of the spatial extent and context for the data collection - Site DescriptionThe Mohonk Preserve Smiley House weather station is in a small field near the Daniel Smiley Research Center at the Mohonk Preserve.
