2020-08-27 00:00:00 | 2020-08-27 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and AB Visit Date: 8/27/20 North side retrieved at 8:33AM Began retrieval at 8:25AM Deployed on 8/27/20 Set to log at 10:00AM Initial and final Manual Depth = .73 m. North side retrieved at 9:25 Began retrieval at 9:15AM Ininial and final Manual Depth = .89 m Set to begin logging at 10:05AM. Sensor set to measure at 2.5 intervals with 10 minute filters that will give us approximately 37.6 days of memory. General Notes: overcast day with rain predicted. Many plants and weeds within the muck of the south side location. The sensors were both kept in the same location as initially placed. | 2020-08-27 11:32:25 |
2020-08-13 11:30:00 | 2020-08-13 13:30:00 | The initial purpose of this visit was to re-locate the North side sensor to a less accessible location. The South Side sensor was not retrieved at this visit. The North Side sensor was retrieved at 11:30 AM EST and was measured at a depth of 80cm. We moved the sensor further north, deeper, and away from the open shoreline where people were seen to be fishing. A hook with a worm on it was found attached to the rope. The sensor was deployed at 12:30PM and set to begin logging at 1:30PM. The coordinates of the North Side sensor's new location are 44.63503, -73.26415, where the depth was measured at 98cm. General Notes: An anchor was added to the set up on the north side in an attempt to minimize movement that happened in the past. This movement is theorized to be due to fishing activity off shore. This was the purpose for moving the sensor. A hook and a worm were found in the rope that is attached to the cinder block. This could have been from the previous week or may have been missed on the last visit. Based on where the sensor was and the coordinates taken, it looks like it had not moved since the previous weeks visit. These coordinates were named 20200813PT1N in the GPS. The final coordinates after moving the sensor were named 20200813PT2N. We did not visit the south side sensor at all. | 2020-08-17 09:04:46 |
2020-08-07 07:45:00 | 2020-08-07 10:30:00 | Crew: JVD, JT and AB Visit Date: 8/7/2020 South side retrieved at 8:00 AM. Began retrieval at 7:45 AM. Deployed on 8/7/2020 set to log at 9:00 AM. Initial Manual Depth not measured (forgot measuring stick). Final Depth = .88 m. North side retrieved at 9:05 AM. Began retrieval at 9:00 AM. Sensors set to measure 2.5 intervals with 10 minute filters this will give us approximately 37.6 days of memory. Deployed on 8/7/2020 set to log at 10:30 AM. Initial Manual Depth = 31.5 m. Final Depth = .815 m. General notes: clear day, south side is weedy, north side was probably moved by human activity so we moved it deeper. Will check north side for movement again on 8/13/2020. south side discrepancy may be due to wire tangled on foot. South final coordinates: 44.63287, -73.26498, North side final coordinates: 44.63496, -73.26442 | 2020-08-10 08:37:20 |
2020-07-15 00:00:00 | 2020-07-15 23:59:59 | Crew: JVD Visited on 07/15/2020 The South Side sensor was retrieved at 7:57AM EST and the manual water depth was recorded at 68cm. The sensor was deployed at 8:41AM and set to begin logging data at 9:00AM. With anticipation of continued drop in the lake water level, the sensor was re-located roughly 30 meters due south to 44.63285, -73.26499. The new location measured a manual depth of 90cm. The North Side sensor was retrieved at 9:20 AM EST and was measured at a depth of 30cm. This sensor was about 15cm under the water's surface and the cinderblock was found on it's side at 44.63490, -73.26443 in a different location from its previous deployment. The sensor was deployed at 9:35AM and set to begin logging at 10:00AM. The coordinates of the North Side sensor's new location are 44.63494, -73.26438, where the depth was measured at 104cm. The new location is roughly 5 meters 35 degrees North of the location it was found. General Notes: The water level of the South Side sensor had decreased roughly 30cm and the surrounding reeds had grown around the sensor. Based on the environmental conditions explained the decision was made to move the sensor into deeper water with less vegetation. The North Side sensor was found nearly 6 meters SE of it's previous deployment location, creating the concern that this movement of this was a result of human tampering. The cinderblock was found on its side halfway buried in sand (the sensor was not buried). | 2020-07-15 13:33:08 |
2020-06-19 00:00:00 | 2020-06-19 23:59:59 | Crew: JVD retrieved the South Side sensor at 11:50 AM EST. This sensor was measured at a manual depth of 40.5cm, and due to the sensor housing's positioning on the cinderblock the top of the logger was only about 20cm below the surface. The logger was moved further south to a manual depth of 98.5cm, deployed at 12:20pm and set to begin recording at 1:00PM. The new south side deployment coordinates are: 44.63308, -73.26504. North Side sensor was retrieved at 12:33 PM EST and was measured at a manual depth of 51cm. This sensor was only about 25cm under the water's surface so the sensor was moved to a depth of 94.5cm, deployed at 12:55PM, and set to begin logging at 1:30PM. The new north side deployment coordinates are: 44.63497, -73.26440. General Notes:The south side logger was moved roughly 23m south of its previous location due to shallow water and growth of dense reeds on the south side. The new location is just beyond the aquatic vegetation. The North Side sensor was also moved due to shallow water, but due to a land formation it could not be moved directly north. The north side logger was moved roughly 22m north of its previous location at an azimuth of 15 degrees. The North Side was noticeably colder and clearer than the comparably muddy and silty South Side. The North side had more algal growth than the 6/11 visit. Mud was removed from the North and South sensor housing. There is 37.6 days worth of storage available. A revisit is necessary before July 26th. | 2020-06-19 14:32:01 |
2020-05-22 00:00:00 | 2020-05-22 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and JVD retrieved the South Side sensor at 11:08 AM EST. Was measured at a manual depth of 82cm (initial and final) and was set to begin logging at 12:30PM EST. South Deployment Coordinates: N44.63331, -73.26501. North Side sensor was retrieved at 11:52 AM EST and was measured at a manual depth of 100cm (initial and final). The North Side sensor was deployed to being logging at 12:45 AM EST. North Deployment Coordinates: 44.63479, -73.26464 General Notes: Deployment for both locations were the same as the last retrieval. We waded around the North Side and attempted to get out to positions 1 and 2 and found the water was nearly shallow enough to relocate the sensor. The North Side was noticeably colder and clearer than the comparably muddy and silty South Side. A leach was removed from the North Side sensor housing. There is 37.6 days worth of storage available. The data will need to be downloaded by June 28th. There will be a quality check done in two weeks to ensure everything is working properly. A long plastic stake was used to mark the location of the cinderblock while retrieving data. | 2020-05-22 13:34:17 |
2020-05-11 00:00:00 | 2020-05-11 23:59:59 | Crew: JT North Side Deployment Time: 8:50 AM EST North Side Intial Manual Depth: 1.11 M North Deployment Coordinates:44.63483, -73.26460 South Side Deployment Time: 08:20 AM EST South side initial manual depth: 1.08 M South deployment coordinates: 44.63333, -73.26501 General Notes: Deployment for both locations were not the same as the locations from last year in the month of May and early June. For the south side, I attempted to get out to positions 1 and 2 and found 1 was too shallow where as 2 was too deep. The new position is in between two points. This issue also occurred on the north side, resulting in a new location for the deployment. The sensors were set up to begin collecting data at 12:00 PM on 05/11/20. There is 37.6 days worth of storage available. The data will need to be downloaded by June 17th. There will be a quality check done in two weeks to ensure everything is working properly. This deployment also differs from last year's deployment in that there is no fence post to hold the sensor in place. | 2020-05-11 13:04:08 |
2019-11-04 00:00:00 | 2019-11-04 23:59:59 | Crew: JT, JVD, and BZ Visit Date: 11/04/2019 South side retrieved at around 12:00 PM North side retrieved at 01:00 PM Note: Jt and JVD were going out to Colchester Reef to service the meteorological station there and while passing the Route 2 causeway on boat we realized that the water level had risen above the point that we could retrieve the sensor using waders. Because of the high water level and the fact that the poles anchoring the sensors were submerged making it safety concern we decided to retrieve the sensor and pull the sensors for the season. There was no final manual depth taken because the whole unit was removed. We will redeploy in March or April depending on when the lake thaws. | 2020-01-31 16:05:36 |
2019-09-26 00:00:00 | 2019-09-26 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and MS Visit Date: 10/24/2020 South side retrieved at 8:00 AM Began retrieval at around 7:30 AM Deployed on 10/24/2019 set to log at 9:30 AM Final Manual Depth = 1.05 m North side retrieved at 8:42 AM Began retrieval at around 8:15 AM Deployed on 10/24/2019 set to log at 9:10 AM Final Manual Depth = 1.35 m Note: The average water level was around 95 feet that day. This was almost too high for waders. Water was coming into our waders however we did not move or bring in the sensor to extend the collection period. Next visit may require a boat to retrieve the sensor. Will keep an eye on the water level moving forward to decide when to pull the sensors out of the lake. | 2020-01-31 15:52:50 |
2019-09-26 00:00:00 | 2019-09-26 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and JVD Visit Date: 09/30/2019 South side retrieved at 10:00 AM Initial Manual Depth = NA Final Depth = 0.72 m North side retrieved at 11:00 AM Final Depth = 0.97 m The logger was not moved from it's location on this visit. The water was fairly high and only seemed to be getting higher. Additionally, JT forgot about measuring manual depths and had to revisit the loggers at around 3:00 PM that day to remeasure the manual depths. | 2020-01-31 15:26:58 |
2019-08-30 00:00:00 | 2019-08-30 23:59:59 | Crew: JD and AK Visit Date: 08/30/2019 South side retrieved at 12:40 Began retrieval at around 12:20 Deployed on 08/30/2019 set to log at 1:40 Initial Manual Depth = 0.558 m Final Depth = 0.701 m North side retrieved at 1:30 Began retrieval at around 1:15 Deployed on 08/30/2019 set to log at 2:00 Initial Manual Depth = 0.61 m Final Depth = 0.925 m General note: Both sensors were moved deeper because the water level had dropped more than 2 feet since the last time we moved the sensor. | 2019-09-09 16:38:54 |
2019-08-19 00:00:00 | 2019-08-19 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and JD Visit Date: 08/19/2019 South side retrieved at 11:35 AM Began retrieval at 11:20 AM Deployed on 08/19/2019 set to log at 12:30 PM Initial Manual Depth = NA Final Depth = .625 m North side retrieved at 12:05 PM Began retrieval at 11:50 AM Sensor set to measure 2.5 intervals with 10 minute filters this will give us approximately 37.6 days of memory Deployed on 08/19/2019 set to log at 12:45 PM Initial Manual Depth = NA Final Depth = .88 m General Notes: Cloudy day, seems like a storm was beginning to roll in. The water depth has dropped again, not enough to trigger the shallow depth alert system Mike set up but from a visual perspective we should plan to move the sensor again the next time we are out there. On the south side, the grass has gotten extremely thick and on the shore new vegetation has began to grow. Would highly recommend bringing a cardboard box as a work station. From the north side we walked out from where we currently have the sensor deployed and believe we could move the sensor another 100 feet. The sensor was not moved during this deployment. | 2019-09-06 12:52:17 |
2019-07-22 00:00:00 | 2019-07-22 23:59:59 | Crew: JT and MF Visit Date: 07/22/2019 South side retrieved at 2:30 PM Began retrieval at 2:20 PM Deployed on 07/22/2019 set to log at 03:30 PM Initial Manual Depth =.54 m Final Depth = 0.95 m North side retrieved at 1515 Began retrieval at 1500 Sensor set to measure 2.5 intervals with 10 minute filters this will give us approximately 37.6 days of memory Deployed on 07/22/2019 set to log at 04:00 PM Initial Manual Depth = .56 m Final Depth = 1.26 m General Notes: Cloudy day with some minor rain in short increments. The south side has gotten ridicolously grassy. May be difficult to see sensor. We placed it in water with no reeds. Sensors were moved deeper into the water, roughly 20 - 35 feet from the original location for both sides due to water levels dropping. The initial depths were measured from the location the sensors were currently at upon arrival. The final depths were the depths at the location the sensors were moved to. The sensors were both set to measure 2.5 intervals with 10 minute filters this will give us approximately 37.6 days of memory.
