  • Breeding season searches
    Started: 1991-04-15
    Ended: 1996-01-01

    At Mount Mansfield, selected breeding ponds and brooks are searched during breeding season for eggs and males calling for mates. The pH of water is also measured.

  • Egg mass searches
    Started: 1994-04-01
    Ended: 2002-12-31

    At Lye Brook, habitat suitable for wood frog (Rana sylvatica) and spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) egg masses were sought in ponds on three visits beginning at the start of ice out and continuing until May or June when egg laying activity ceased.

  • Pond characteristics
    Started: 1994-04-01
    Ended: 2002-12-31

    At Lye Brook, water pH and temperature were recorded. Three measurements taken from shore at 15cm depth for each pond.

    Instrumentation: Cole-Parmer hand-held pH meter (microcomputer pH vision model #6009)
