Methods
The methods followed in the creation of the dataset, including description of field, laboratory and processing steps, and quality control procedures
Past Methods (No longer in use)
- Tree selection and measurements
Started: 1998-10-01
Ended: 1999-06-01Working off the Butler Lodge Trail and the Wampahoofus Trail, growth and aging of understory red spruce will be done at different elevations. At each trail marker on Butler Lodge Trail (5 chains apart), the first 3 red spruce trees in the understory to the north of the trail are used to measure total height, 1997/1998 growth, live crown ratio, and age.
Quality Control Measures: Trees double checked by experienced forester
