Downloadable | Continuous Revegetation Survey Data, Watershed 5, Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, 1984 - 1989 | Conducted to observe how vegetation recovers after a harvest. | Detailed measurements of recovering vegetation were conducted on a large set of permanent plots during the first five years after harvest of Watershed 5. Results are summarized in Hughes and Fahey (19 91) and Pu et al. (1993). Measurements on these plots were discontinued in 1989 and replaced by measurements on a smaller set of larger plots. Those data are Not included in this dataset. Read More | 1984-01-01 to 1989-12-31 |
Downloadable | Forest Inventory of a Calcium Amended Northern Hardwood Forest 1996-2011: Watershed 1, Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest | To better understand the role of Ca supply in the regulation of structure and function of base-poor forests and aquatic ecosystems. | In order to evaluate the role of Ca supply in regulating the structure and function of base-poor forest and aquatic ecosystems, the Ca content of soil was increased through the application of wollasto nite (CaSiO3) in October 1999. Forest inventory surveys were initiated in 1996 and repeated at 5 year intervals. Read More | 1963-01-01 (ongoing) |
Downloadable | Forest Inventory of a Northern Hardwood Forest 1965-2017: Watershed 6, Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest | To have a continuous forest inventory survey of watershed 6 in Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest. | Forest inventory surveys were initiated in 1965, repeated in 1977, and subsequently repeated at 5 year intervals. This is the initial data set and was collected in summer of 1965. The inventory consis ts of a total inventory of all trees >= 1.5 cm diameter-at-breast-height (dbh) on the whole of the watershed (13.23 ha), as measured in each of the 208 25 m x 25 m plots. Shrubs, seedlings and small saplings were also surveyed. Read More | 1965-01-01 (ongoing) |
Downloadable | Forest Inventory of a Whole Tree Harvest 1982-2009: Watershed 5, Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest | To asses the ecosystem response to whole-tree logging operations during the dormant season. | A whole-tree harvest was conducted during the dormant season of 1983-1984 in order to assess ecosystem response to whole-tree logging operations. Pre-harvest forest inventory surveys were conducted in 1982 on the whole of the watershed. Post-harvest surveys were conducted in 1990, 1994 and every 5 years thereafter. Sampling methods change overtime so users should be aware of these changes when looking to aggregate data. Pre-treatment sampling included all stems >=2cm, post treatment measurements in 1990 were conducted using circular plots, 1995 to 2005 where conducted within a subset of the 25x25m grid cells on 1x25m square plots, and the final measurement 2009 included nested circular plots Read More | 1982-01-01 (ongoing) |
Downloadable | Inventory of Hubbard Brook Valley Plots | Multiple above and below ground attributes were measured between 1995 and 1998 to collect tree inventory data of multiple plots spanning the entire Hubbard Brook valley. | The valley-wide plots are a grid of 431 sites along fifteen N–S transects established at 500-m intervals spanning the entire Hubbard Brook Valley. Multiple above- and below- ground attributes were m easured between 1995 and 1998. This dataset includes tree recruitment data; soil data and other measurements are presented in separate datasets.
