Our Mission

The mission of the Vermont Water Resources and Lake Studies Center is to fund research on major water resource issues of concern to the state, to disseminate results from that research, and to help educate students about the nature and value of water resources.

History

The Vermont Water Center funds research projects that address critical water resources science and management needs in Vermont, including the Connecticut River Basin and the Lake Champlain Basin. Projects must meet state science and technology needs and ensure dissemination to water managers and the public. The program also encourages new research scientists, engineers, and technicians to enter water resources fields in Vermont.

Our Organization

The Vermont Water Center is a member of the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) and is supported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and funding from partners. It is administered through the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
