Methods

  • Current Methods
    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: As of 2010, changes to methods. Only the forest tent pheromone trapping is continuing, and we have reduced the number of traps from five to three.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: Spruce budworm monitoring discontinued in 2004.

    • Pest monitoring
      • Started: 1991-06-01
      • Method Description: These pests are monitored using pheromone traps (multipher traps with a biolure and a vaportape insecticide), which attract male moths during their flight period, indicating relative population levels in the area. Each trap type is deployed during the adult moth flight period. Forest tent and spruce budworm pheromone traps deployed at 1400 foot elevation.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: Five forest tent caterpillar pheromone traps per elevation are deployed between June 20 and August 15.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: Three spruce budworm traps per elevation are deployed between June 14 and September 5.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: One spring hemlock looper pheromone trap per elevation is deployed between April 7 and July 15.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: One fall hemlock looper pheromone trap per elevation is deployed from August 31 to October 31.

    • Unnamed Method
      • Method Description: Forest tent, spruce budworm and spring and fall hemlock looper traps are used at 3 elevations on the west slope of Mt. Mansfield: 1400, 2200 and 3800 feet.

  • Past Methods (no longer in use)
