► Abstract
CASTNET is a national monitoring network established to assess trends in pollutant concentrations, atmospheric deposition, and ecological effects due to changes in air pollutant emissions. Regional CASTNET dry deposition chemistry data from New York and northern New England are archived here.

- Title: Clean Air Status and Trend Network (CASTNet): Ozone 1998-2001
- Start Date: 1998-12-31
- End Date: 2001-01-01
- Description: Measurements of ozone concentrations
- Purpose: To provide site specific data of ozone. To provide air quality data specific to the Lye Brook Wilderness Area, a Class I Wilderness Area, to support research on the effects of air pollution on the Air Quality Related Values (AQRV) of the wilderness area.

► Methods
- Current Methods
- Precipitation samples
- Started: 1994-04-06
- Method Description: Weekly collection of precipation for chemical analysis is performed at two different sites. Precipitation amount, pH and conductivity analysis is performed at the sites. The sample is shipped to the NADP Central Analytical Lab in Illinois for analysis of pH, conductivity, Ca, Mg, K, Na, NH4, NO3, Cl, SO4.
- Started: 1994-04-06
- Ozone and deposition
- Started: 1994-01-01
- Method Description: Seasonal continuous ozone (May through September), averaged hourly. Deposition (kg/ha) was calculated for chemicals reporting concentration in mg/l for annual, seasonal and montly time steps.
- Started: 1994-01-01
- Meteorological data
- Started: 1994-01-01
- Method Description: Continuous meteorology averaged hourly includes ambient temperature at 2 and 10 m height, relative humidity, surface wetness, precipitation, wind speed and direction, solar radiation.
- Started: 1994-01-01
- Past Methods (no longer in use)
- Sample analysis
- Started: 1995-07-04
Ended: 1999-02-02 - Method Description: Accumulated weekly samples; analysis includes SO2, HNO3, pH, conductivity, acidity and major ions.
- Started: 1995-07-04

- No sampling equipment recorded for this dataset
► Site Characteristics
- Site Description: Green Mountain National Forest, Stratton, just south of the Lye Brook Wilderness Area boundary. Summit of hill with southwest airflow.
