Abstract

    The Vermont Reptile and Amphibian Atlas Project collects and disseminates data needed to make informed recommendations regarding the state status, state rank, and conservation of Vermont’s reptiles and amphibians.

      • Method Description: Three contiguous 50 meter transects established on Branch Pond Brook. Surveyed in one day each year. Starting with furthest downstream transect, each transect is divided up into three regions, and is searched by three people (one per region) for 20 minutes apiece (1 person-hour).

      • Method Description: Populations of spring salamanders (Gyrinophilus porphyriticus) and two-lined salamanders (Eurycea bislineata) were surveyed. Rocks that are partially or entirely above water are turned, and the number of individuals are counted
