This project will assess the relationship between a proposed index of aquatic acidification due to airborne pollutants and the concentrations in air of ammonia, ammonium, nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides. AMoN is a NADP network measuring NH3 concentrations across the United States with the goal of providing long term trends in ambient NH3 concentrations and depositions. The VMC air quality site began participating in this network in November 2012 as a component of the AAI.

CASTNET is a national air quality monitoring network designed to provide data to assess trends in air quality, atmospheric deposition, and ecological effects due to changes in air pollutant emissions.CASTNET measurements are used to assess long-term, regional trends in sulfur and nitrogen pollutants.</eml:para></eml:abstract><eml:shortName>EPA AMoN & CASTNet Aquatic Acidification Index pilot study to measure airborne sulfur and nitrogen oxide concentrations</eml:shortName><eml:personnel><eml:principalInvestigator><eml:surName>Pendleton</eml:surName><eml:givenName>Miriam</eml:givenName></eml:principalInvestigator><eml:principalInvestigator><eml:surName>Scheffe</eml:surName><eml:givenName>Rich</eml:givenName></eml:principalInvestigator></eml:personnel><eml:keywordSet><eml:keyword>water chemistry</eml:keyword><eml:keyword>acid neutralizing capacity</eml:keyword><eml:keyword>atmospheric deposition</eml:keyword><eml:keyword>aquatic acidification index</eml:keyword></eml:keywordSet></eml:project><eml:dataTable><eml:title>NADP Average Ammonia Concentration- more than one sampler</eml:title><eml:coverage scope="document"><eml:temporalCoverage scope="document"><eml:rangeOfDates><eml:beginDate><eml:calendarDate>2012-11-20</eml:calendarDate></eml:beginDate></eml:rangeOfDates></eml:temporalCoverage></eml:coverage><eml:description>Replicates of ammonia concentration</eml:description><eml:purpose>Provide a consistent, long-term record of ammonia gas (NH3) concentrations from Vermont for use in the aquatic acidification model</eml:purpose><eml:shortName>Z0312_AMoNVT99_Ave</eml:shortName><eml:physical><eml:objectName>VMC.312.412</eml:objectName><eml:dataFormat><eml:formatName>mySQL</eml:formatName></eml:dataFormat><eml:citation>Published use of CASTNET data or info must acknowledge CASTNET as the source:
